Junior Network Specialist

Purpose Statement:

To create, maintain and support efficient and agile end-to-end application integration for execution of core business processes based on thorough understanding of and skills in applying the EAI technology involved

Stable (large MTBF) and reliable working end-to-end integrations conforming to functional design.
Delivery of agreed functionality with agreed level of quality within agreed timeframe for assigned EAI  projects or tasks

Main Responsibilities:

•    Contribute to/deliver functional design and assure it is clear, consistent and complete and can be translated into a viable technical solution conforming to architectural guidelines, standards, blueprints, etc.
•    Create components of the detailed technical design in line with functional design, high level technical design and general architectural principles under supervision of Technical Manager EAI Development. Contribute to the development of viable general architectural principles, guidelines, blueprints and common components.
•    Test (components of) the technical design against the functional design test cases.
•    Peer-review technical designs from colleagues and vendors.
•    Develop and unit-test code and EAI tool configuration.
•    Install, configure, deploy and verify both EAI tools and build solutions.
•    Support Joint Integration Test and User Acceptance Test. Manage and follow-up any issues to completion.
•    Diagnose production support issues and assist in recovery and resolution.
•    Pro-actively contribute to improve EAI delivery tools and procedures


Context/Environment:

Member of EAI team reporting to Director EAI.
Works under daily technical supervision of Technical Manager EAI Development and Technical Manager EAI Support.
Contacts with IT departments of affiliates and EAI vendor staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Minimum:  HBO / B.A. level Software Engineering
Value added: Sun Certified Developer, Training/Certification from EAI Vendor (preferably BEA/Oracle)
Required knowledge: J2EE development (design and Java programming); Messaging (JMS, MQ Series or other); RDBMS; structured software development methodology; UML; object-oriented design and programming;
Desired knowledge: Vitria; Telecom environments; one of the leading EAI software platforms preferable BEA/Oracle, SOA, agile development, testing methodology
Experience: at least 3 years IT experience covering the full project lifecycle including at least 1 year of technical design and programming in a J2EE environment

Skills required:

Creative problem-solving, systematic analytical thinking.
Good knowledge and understanding of modern EAI technology and SOA.

Key Measures:

Deviation from agreed content/quality/timeframe for activities.
Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of integration systems/component implemented.
Average problem resolution time divided by problem complexity factor.

Working Relationships and Team Working:

Internally: colleagues within EAI team; architects involved in project; IT support staff and Production Support staff

Externally: IT staff of affiliates; vendor consultants
